Prof. Toshiki Tajima is well known as the inventor of laser electron acceleration. He is a brilliant theoretician covering a very broad range from fundamental physics to plasma physics and even medicine. Furthermore he has a good feeling for real experiments and thus has very productive collaborations with many physicists from many areas of MAP and even helps in the strategic decisions of synergies between medicine and physics within MAP. In collaboration with other theoreticians, who run large scale PIC simulations, he helps to obtain a much better understanding of MAP experiments.
Research Focus
Research expertise and fields: high field science, laser acceleration, ultrafast science, crossfield of laser and accelerator
Current interests and projects: laser electron and ion acceleration, attosecond coherent X-rays, photo-medical research, photo-nuclear physics
